Success factors for translational neuroscience: lessons from ataxia
Translational medical research indicates an exchange of knowledge between medical doctors in the hospital and experimental researchers in the lab. With this symposium, we give the floor to a patient, a clinician, a lab researcher, and a geneticist to explain what is needed for optimal translational research.
Biography
Hofmeijer combines her work as a clinical neurologist in Rijnstate Hospital (Arnhem) with research at the Clinical Neurophysiology group at University of Twente. Her research focus is on cerebral ischemia. She strongly believes that close collaboration between clinical and fundamental scientists will contribute to establishment of new diagnostics or treatments that will help improving outcome of patients with ischemic stroke or cardiac arrest.
